Workshop on Wireless Sensor Networks and Cooperating Objects

Embedded systems, wireless sensor networks and collaborating objects make the advent of new applications and new business scenarios possible. Industry and politics do recognize the chances and possibilities that will come up. Initiatives like ARTEMIS and various project initiatives of the European commission are an evidence of these new and innovative technology paradigms. For instance Call 5 of the 7th Framework Programme will deal with the Engineering of Networked Monitoring and Control Systems with special focus on the foundation of complex systems, collaborating objects and control of large-scale systems.

The WASP project, developing a software platform for WSN applications, and the CONET project, establishing a strong community in the area of Cooperating Objects, are inviting you to a Workshop on Wireless Sensor Networks and Cooperating Objects on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 in Darmstadt, Germany.

Following the first WASP workshop that was successfully held in September 2007, this workshop will discuss both business and application models for WSNs and Cooperating Objects and the technologies available and needed for implementation. This workshop offers a unique possibility to get first-hand insights into current developments and to get in touch with experts and to discuss potential cooperation and new ideas for business and development. The workshop specially addresses projects of FP6 and FP7 and representatives from industry and small medium enterprises.

Highly reputed companies and research institutes like Philips Research, Microsoft Innovation Center, SAP, Telecom Italia and the Swedish Institute of Computer Science will talk about their latest achievements in this fast moving field of technology.

The Workshop will consist of two parallel tracks. The Business Track will cover topics like Business Models for WSNs, Application Scenarios for WSNs, and Cooperating Objects and Standardization Needs and Bodies.

The Technology Track will discuss important issues like Programming Models and Tools, Operating Systems and Protocols for WSNs, and Deployment and Management of Collaborating Objects.
Furthermore Dr. Jorge Pereira, Principal Scientific Officer from the European Commission will give detailed information about the upcoming Call 5 and the next steps in Artemis.

Your Benefit of Participation:

  • Get in contact with Europe's leading players within the wireless sensor networks domain
  • Get insight into the latest technical developments provided by experts with first-hand experience
  • Seize the opportunity to network to establish new business contacts
